1. The 15-second rule.

1. The 15-second rule. Millions spent on marketing, advertising and PR will be wasted if the company's customer-facing staff, such as sales assistants, technicians, telephone operators and security guards, are unable to pay attention to the customer's needs, solve their problems promptly and help in a non-standard situation.

Company staff have only 15 seconds to do this. That is how long, on average, an interaction between a customer and a company specialist lasts. These 15 seconds decide everything — whether the customer is satisfied or goes to another company. After all, how strongly a company can "bind" a customer to itself depends not only on the brilliant ideas of top managers, but also on how well each individual employee serves the customer.
