The committee handles association membership matters: associate membership of insurance agents and brokers, confirmation via memorandum, the register of members, and their rights and obligations.

The Membership Committee is a standing body of the Association of Insurance Agents and Brokers. It is responsible for making the participation of insurance intermediaries in the association clear and transparent: how membership arises, how it is confirmed, what information about members is maintained, and what rights and obligations each member has.

Objectives of the Committee

  • Supporting associate membership. Every insurance broker and insurance agent in the registry — whether an individual or a legal entity — is an associate member of the association by default. No application or fees are required for this.
  • Organizing confirmation of membership through accession to the Memorandum with insurance market participants. This is done in the personal account on the association's website with a single “Join the memorandum” button.
  • Maintaining the register of association members and keeping their information up to date.
  • Preparing proposals on membership tiers with additional benefits: analytics, participation in legislative drafting, and extended training.
  • Explaining to members their rights and obligations, and considering enquiries on membership matters.
  • Cooperating with other committees on matters affecting the interests of association members.

Goals of the Committee

  • Make participation in the association accessible to all insurance intermediaries without unnecessary formalities.
  • Ensure that information about association members is accurate and open to market participants and consumers of insurance services.
  • Strengthen the professional community of insurance agents and brokers and trust in it.
  • Create conditions in which association members can take part in the development of the insurance market and in the work of the association's bodies.

Regulations on the Committee

The Committee operates on the basis of the Regulations on the Membership Committee, approved by the Management Board of the association. Key provisions of the Regulations:

  • the Committee is a standing body accountable to the Management Board;
  • the Committee maintains the register of members, organizes confirmation of membership through the memorandum, and prepares proposals on membership tiers;
  • the Committee may request from members the information needed to maintain the register and may involve experts in its work;
  • the Committee is composed of representatives of association members; the chair is elected or appointed by the Management Board;
  • meetings are held at least once a quarter; decisions are made by a simple majority of votes with a quorum of more than half of the Committee members;
  • when processing information about members, the Committee complies with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Personal Data and Their Protection”.

Structure of the Committee

  • The Chair of the Committee organizes the Committee's work, chairs its meetings and represents the Committee before the Management Board.
  • The Deputy Chair performs the duties of the Chair in their absence and coordinates individual areas of work.
  • Working groups are set up to prepare specific matters, for example on maintaining the register of members or on membership tiers.
  • The Secretary of the Committee prepares materials for meetings and keeps the minutes and records of the Committee.

Reporting line

The Committee is accountable to the Management Board of the association. The Committee's decisions take effect after approval by the Management Board. The Committee reports regularly to the Management Board on its work and submits proposals on membership matters.

Role of the Committee

The Membership Committee is an insurance intermediary's first point of contact with the association. It explains what membership offers, helps confirm it, and ensures that the information about members in the registry is accurate. For members, this means a clear procedure for participation and well-defined rights and obligations. For consumers and insurance companies, it is a way to verify that an insurance intermediary belongs to a professional association and has joined the common principles of working in the market.

The Committee also collects feedback from members on the opportunities they need and passes it on to the Management Board and the specialized committees. This is how membership tiers and forms of participation in the association's work evolve.

Learn more about participation levels on the Membership page. You can confirm associate membership by joining the memorandum in your personal account.
