Association of Insurance Agents and Brokers

The Association of Insurance Agents and Brokers is governed on the principles of collegiality and transparency. Key decisions are made collectively, taking into account the views of insurance agents and brokers, and the documents governing the work of the management bodies are open to members and the public. This model combines strategic governance, operational management and expert work in specific areas of insurance intermediation.

Board

The Board is a collegial governing body that sets the Association's strategy and oversees its implementation. The Board's functions include:

  • setting the strategic directions of the Association's activities;
  • approving internal documents, including the Code of Professional Ethics and professional service standards;
  • establishing committees and approving their regulations and the decisions they make;
  • approving membership fees and training programmes;
  • considering appeals against decisions of the Disciplinary Council;
  • engaging with government bodies and insurance market participants on the development of insurance intermediation.

Chairman of the Board

The Chairman of the Board is the Association's executive body. The Chairman manages day-to-day operations, organises the implementation of Board decisions, represents the Association in relations with government bodies, insurance companies and partners, and coordinates the work of the committees. The Chairman of the Board reports to the Board and keeps it informed of progress on the decisions taken.

Committees

Committees are standing bodies accountable to the Board. They are set up to address strategic tasks: membership development, training and accreditation, mediation, protection of insurance consumers' rights, consideration of disciplinary complaints, work with insurance agents and brokers, and improvement of legislation. The number of committees is not limited: new committees are formed as tasks requiring ongoing expert work arise.

Committees prepare proposals, carry out expert reviews and consider matters within their remit. Their decisions take effect after approval by the Board. Representatives of insurance agents and brokers take part in the committees' work, which makes it possible to take the industry's practical experience into account.

Each committee has Regulations and a Memorandum of Cooperation — they are available on the committee's page.
